<p>The Berkeley Campus Library supports the curricular, research, and classroom technology needs of three master’s level programs in Arts and Consciousness, Marriage and Family Therapy and Museum Studies. The collection includes 7,000 books, 90 videos and access to the full text of over 35,000 online journals and 50,000 e-books.</p>
<p><span id="more-3299"></span></p>
<p>Reporting to the Branch Librarian, the Library Assistant provides library circulation services and basic reference support in the library, and media technology support in the classrooms, library and computer labs. The Library Assistant performs circulation functions using Millennium library system and may assist with shelving, serials check-in and other circulation tasks as assigned. In the absence of the Librarian, the Assistant provides basic reference assistance and helps patrons search the library catalog and research databases. The Library Assistant is also responsible for ensuring the proper function, use and check-out of digital arts, photographic and other creative audio visual equipment. Media technology responsibilities also include providing classroom AV set-up, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, and providing instruction on equipment use to faculty, students, and guest presenters.</p>
<p>The requirements of this position include a Bachelor’s degree or 2 years of college plus a library technician certificate. Familiarity with the Library of Congress Classification system and Millennium integrated library system and database searching is highly desirable.</p>
<p>Preferred qualifications include experience with creative audio visual equipment and its maintenance, including video cameras, still photography (both liquid and digital), sound and lighting equipment; experience with audio and visual presentation equipment including LED projectors, media presentation hardware and software, slides, audio, and internet; knowledge of both Mac and Windows operating systems;  experience with digital arts software, preferably Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, Pro Tools and a variety of CD and DVD creation packages and Microsoft Office Suite and email proficiency.</p>

Ability to work cooperatively and to foster teamwork.</p>
<p><strong>Preferred</strong>: Health Sciences background.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Library at Holy Names University (3500 Mountain Boulevard, in the Oakland Hills) has an immediate opening for a part-time, temporary assistant reference librarian available one weeknight a week (the exact night to be determined in conversation with the library team), and Saturdays (10 a.m. &#8211; 3 p.m.), for a total of 8 hours per week through the end of spring semester, 2012.</p>
<p>This librarian will provide direct reference/research help in person and online to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Holy Names University community. Also assists with circulation duties when needed. Other tasks may include updating resource guides (Libguides), assisting with library events, or other activities in support of the library’s mission.</p>
<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Masters of Library and Information Science</li>
<li>At least one year experience providing reference in an academic setting</li>
<li>Customer service experience and demonstrated ease in working with faculty, students, and staff</li>
<li>Tact, enthusiasm, and optimism</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Experience with Libguides and various electronic databases</li>
<li>Availability to work Saturdays and one evening per week</li>
