<p>This seed library is another effort that Richmond residents are  making to grow food locally and build community, and Richmond’s is the  first one in the nation to operate at a more traditional public library.  “We put it in a public space because we wanted the entire public to  have access,” Newburn said.</p></blockquote>

This position requires multitasking and assisting faculty and students with many activities associated with discovering learning resources and digital information.</p>

<p><strong>POSITION </strong><br />
Under the supervision of the Dean of Learning Resources and Academic Technology or assigned manager this position will be responsible to perform a variety of instructional services and co-ordination activities related to the Learning Resources. This may include circulation desk operations; daily operations, and e-campus service support and assistance to faculty, students and college personnel.</p>
<p><strong>Oversight Exercised</strong><br />
May exercise functional and technical oversight for student assistants.</p>
<p><strong>EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>
<p>The following duties are typical of those performed by employees in this job title; however, employees may perform other related duties, and not all duties listed are necessarily performed by each employee in the job title.</p>
<ul>
<li>Acquire, prepare, and organize LRC materials, and help users to find those materials.</li>
<li>Work with end users to access the internet and other technologies, and provide assistance to help them find electronic resources for various projects.</li>
<li>Organize and maintain periodicals, prepare volumes for binding, handle inter-LRC loan requests, prepare invoices, perform routine cataloging and coding of library materials, retrieve information from computer databases, and supervise student support staff.</li>
<li>Market LRC services by participating in and helping to plan reader advisory programs, used-book sales, and outreach programs. Design posters, bulletin boards, or displays to inform patrons of LRC events and services.</li>
<li>Maintain, update, and help customize electronic databases.</li>
<li>Show patrons how to use LRC computers and scanner/copy to email copier.</li>
<li>Respond to student online request for resource materials available through the LRC.</li>
<li>Operate and maintain audiovisual and multimedia equipment.</li>
<li>Assist faculty in obtaining instructional and research materials for courses offered at any of the three campuses. This includes working with the E-campus course management system.</li>
<li>Perform other related duties as assigned.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>JOB RELATED AND ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>
<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</strong> Operate a variety of Learning Resource Center equipment including audio-visual equipment, computers, and automated LRC circulation systems. Knowledge of cataloging. Excellent public service and communication skills. Able to assist Learning Resource Center patrons in response to basic and routine reference and related LRC questions.  Able to participate in all aspects of the LRC, including LRC circulation activities. Able to supervise, train, and oversee the work of assigned student staff.</p>
<p>Able to establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Basic Math skills. Experience in using the Internet, other web tools, and course management systems. Sensitive to and understanding of principles of sustainability, and the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college personnel and students and the communities served by the College. Learn quickly.  Work with others in a diverse working community.  Speak, read and write proficiently in English to campus and community.  Represent the college in a professional manner</p>
<p><strong>Other Requirements:</strong> Must possess a valid California driver&#8217;s license and have a satisfactory driving record.</p>
<p><strong>EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION GUIDELINES</strong><br />

Graziano Library at Samuel Merritt University seeks an energetic, innovative, service-oriented individual for an information literacy and allied health professions librarian position. The John A. Graziano Library is an academic research library serving the schools and departments of nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, physician assistant, and podiatric medicine. The library has a strong emphasis on providing access to a wide variety of electronic information resources, and educating faculty, students, and staff through course-integrated instruction, face to face research assistance, and online tutorials.  The library contains more than 40,000 volumes and receives more than 130 current print journals and more than 1,800 current electronic journals.  Users include medical, nursing, occupational therapy, and physical therapy undergraduate and graduate students, 129 full-time faculty, and a large number of other health professionals. The library staff of 8.55 FTE includes 6 librarians/professionals. <p><strong>Job Summary:</strong><br />
Primary responsibility for information literacy as well as library reference and outreach services, collection development, and selection and integration of electronic resources for the allied health professions.  Works with the Library Director in support of library strategic planning and participates in divisional and university-wide planning efforts.  Coordinates with the Library Director to create, prioritize and implement library goals and objectives.  Supervises other library employees in the Director’s absence.</p>
<p><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong></p>

<li>Knowledge of the health science literature, especially in the field of nursing</li>
<li>Skill in searching electronic information sources</li>
<li>Ability to download, manipulate and disseminate the results of database searches</li>

<li>Familiarity with MeSH, CINAHL, PubMed and NLM classification systems</li>

<p>The College is recruiting for a Reference Librarian. Full-Time, Exempt</p>
<h3>Representative Duties</h3>
<p>Under the general direction of the Head of Reference, this position provides a full range of reference and instructional services including staffing the Reference Desk at the F.W. Olin Library. The Reference Librarian will also teach classes, assist with circulation functions, handle email reference inquiries, and participate in collection development for several academic departments. The Reference Librarian will also create and update public service documentation and library publications such as pathfinders and bibliographies (online and print). Work schedule includes one evening a week and 3-4 Sundays per semester. Supervision of student workers and other staff as needed.</p>
<h3>Minimum Requirements</h3>
<ul>
<li>Graduate degree in librarianship from an ALA-accredited institution.</li>
<li>Demonstrated experience using databases, other electronic resources, online catalogs, the Internet, and print resources.</li>
<li>Strong oral and written communication skills.</li>
<li>Effective teaching skills in group and individual settings.</li>
<li>Strong planning, organizational and analytical skills.</li>
<li>Enthusiasm and commitment to library public services.</li>
<li>Working knowledge of hardware and software used in libraries (e.g., PCs, Apple products, printers, etc.).</li>
<li>Conversant with emerging technologies.</li>
<li>Ability to work cooperatively with colleagues, faculty, students, and staff.</li>
<li>Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.</li>
<li>Ability to provide excellent customer service to F.W. Olin Library patrons.</li>

<h3>Preferred Qualifications:</h3>

<li>1-3 years of increasingly responsible reference/public service experience, preferably in an academic library.</li>

<p><strong>SALARY:</strong> Salary of $40,000-$42,000, plus an excellent benefits package including medical/dental/vision/life/LTD insurance/403b retirement plan, 22 days vacation plus 13 paid holidays and 12 sick days annually. <p>The Administrative Librarian will plan, organize, direct and review various system wide initiatives, such as strategic planning, policy development, staff development &amp; training, statistical and other analysis and administrative special projects as assigned by the Director.  The Administrative Librarian will also oversee Collection Development, Technical Services, Children’s and Teen Services.</p>
<p>This is an unclassified position and is not governed by the Civil Service Rules of the City of Oakland.</p>
<p>The salary range for this classification is $9,255 &#8211; $11,364/monthly, 37.5 hour work week (Currently, there is an avg. of one mandatory business shutdown day per month.).</p>

<p>The Oakland Public Library seeks an energetic, team-oriented Senior Librarian who is enthusiastic about serving the citizens of the communities within the City of Oakland by delivering top-notch customer service, upholding their public services commitment to our patrons, and by making a difference in the lives of library users.</p>
<p>The Oakland Public Library has a main library, 15 neighborhood branches, an African American Museum &amp; Library, and an adult literacy program. We currently employ approximately 425 employees and offer a very competitive salary and benefits package for full-time and permanent part-time civil service employees.</p>
<h3>Job Details:</h3>
<p>The Senior Librarian may be responsible for the full range of librarian duties including classification and cataloging; reference materials, readers advisory, collection development, program development, implementation and evaluation, including service to diverse populations including children, young adult and non-English speaking individuals; The Senior Librarian will also plan, coordinate and perform as a working supervisor to other professional librarians and provide supervision to Librarian I and II personnel and  paraprofessional and clerical staff.</p>
<p>The salary range for the Senior Librarian classification is $35.54hour – 43.64hour, 37.5 hour work week (Currently, there is an avg. of one mandatory business shutdown day per month.).</p>

<h3>Qualifications</h3>
<p>Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the Senior Librarian classification, as follows:</p>
<ul>
<li>Any combination of education and experience that is equivalent to the following minimum qualifications is acceptable:
<ul>
<li>Education:  Master’s degree in library sciences from an American Library Association accredited graduate school.</li>
<li>Experience:  Two (2) years of experience comparable to Librarian II in the City of Oakland.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>Licenses: Possession of a valid California Driver’s License OR demonstrated ability to travel to various locations in a timely manner as required in the performance of duties is highly desirable. Due to the nature of the assignment and the hours worked, public transportation may not be a cost effective or efficient method of traveling to the various locations required.</li>
<li>Additional Qualifications:  Bilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin and Vietnamese are desirable.</li>
</ul>

<p>Requires a MLS or equivalent or bachelor&#8217;s degree with formal training in an archives, information, or records management program. Prior successful experience managing digital files for a large organization strongly preferred.</p>
