			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The University of San Francisco Gleeson Library | Geschke Center is seeking an engaging, creative, and forward-thinking information professional with excellent computer and communication skills to be the sole manager of a small library for professional working adults at the <a href="http://www.usfca.edu/sanjose/library/">USF San Jose Campus</a>. This position supervises one Library Assistant and reports to the Head Librarian of Distance Learning Services &amp; Regional Libraries. As part of a distributed workgroup of nine library staff members on five campuses, this librarian also works closely with the USF San Jose Campus administrators, faculty, program directors, and information technologists.</p>
<p><strong>Minimum Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>MLS or MLIS from an ALA-accredited program or its international equivalent</li>
<li>Minimum two years professional experience in public services, preferable academic</li>
<li>Friendly and highly service-oriented, with demonstrated ability to interact cooperatively with adult nontraditional students, faculty, colleagues, administrators, and information technologists</li>
<li>Flexible and able to handle gracefully the pressures and demands of a busy branch campus environment</li>
<li>Works well independently as a solo librarian and as a supervisor</li>
<li>Strong communication, organization, oral, written, and technical computer skills</li>
</ul>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><a href="http://www.stpatricksseminary.org">St. Patrick&#8217;s Seminary and University Library</a> in Menlo Park, California seeks a 30 to 35 hour per week librarian to provide cataloging, interlibrary loan and book processing services, as well as occasional reference and instruction in library use. The library staff is highly service oriented and proactive and our new librarian should be flexible, cooperative, and able to work well with library patrons with a wide range of research capabilities and needs. Experience supervising volunteers and work/study students is a plus, as is familiarity with theological collections.</p>
<p>The position includes a generous benefits and vacation package including meals at the seminary dining hall. Here are some of the job responsiblities and skills:</p>
<ul>
<li>Perform original and or copy-enhanced cataloging for incoming books in accordance with current bibliographic standards and local practices.</li>
<li>Use OCLC Connexion efficiently to search for records and update library holdings.</li>
<li>Complete retroactive copy and/or original cataloging for materials selected by Library Manager.</li>
<li>Special projects as needed, i.e. re-classing books or adding large collections to the OPAC.</li>
<li>Provide public service as needed, including reference services, library orientation, and technical support.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The next <a href="http://www.bibliotecasparalagente.org/index.html">Bibliotecas para la Gente </a>meeting is Friday January 13th in San José. (BPLG) is a non-profit organization with a mission to support the efforts of professionals and paraprofessionals working in the library field who are interested in developing and providing library services for the Spanish speaking and Latino communities of Northern California.</p>
<p>This is a great chance to catch up with other BPLG members, meet new members and contribute to this great group. At this meeting you’ll have a chance to listen and learn from members, Adrian Barrientos, Lael Takiguchi, Dora Irene Morales, and Maynard Martinez when they present La Pasión De La Colección, the presentation they gave at the REFORMA National Conference in September.  This is a great opportunity to get info on collection development for Spanish speaking and Latino library users.  We’ll have a short BPLG meeting followed by the presentation, so come early and get ready for an info filled get together.</p>

Librarians are responsible for performing a variety of professional librarian duties. This may include: providing direct assistance to library customers in the location of information and library materials; serving as a resource for children, young adults, adults and library staff; conducting library tours, giving book talks, and planning, promoting, or presenting other programs; working with community groups to promote understanding, use and support of library service activities; analyzing, interpreting and answering reference questions, and providing reader&#8217;s advisory information; supervising, leading or training the work of a clerical and technical staff as assigned; assuming responsibility for a facility or a section as assigned; selecting and managing collections; cataloging; web development and design.  This position may include evenings and weekend shifts.  The salary range for Librarian I Part Time classification is $27.69 &#8211; $33.66 per hour.  Librarian II Part time classification range is $29.62 to $36.03 per hour. </p>
<p>Minimum qualifications include a Master&#8217;s Degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university.  No experience is required at the Librarian I level.  One year of full-time professional library experience is required at the Librarian II level.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Librarian I is the entry-level professional position with the Santa Clara County Library, with a wide variety of potential assignments serving adults, teens, or children at community libraries; working on the Bookmobile; or working in collection development or cataloging at the Library Administration offices.</p>
<p>There are currently three Librarian I positions available.<strong></strong></p>
<p>One vacancy is a full-time Spanish-speaking vacancy at Adult Services, located at the Gilroy Library.  The selected candidate must take and pass the Spanish Bilingual examination prior to hire.  <strong></strong></p>
<p>In addition, there are two (2) half-time positions available.  One at the Saratoga Library in Children&#8217;s Services and one at the Morgan Hill Library in Adult Services.  These two half-time positions do not have bilingual requirements.</p>
<p>Santa Clara County Library District is one of the most heavily used and most well funded library systems in the country. The Library is one of eleven libraries nationwide to be included in the top ten libraries in its population category in every published edition of Hennen’s American Public Library Ratings Survey. In addition to a broad range of electronic content and services, the Library District includes seven community libraries and one branch as well as administrative offices, bookmobile service and a literacy program. Serving a population of 420,000 residents in the heart of Silicon Valley, the Library District circulated over 12.2 million items to over 3.6 million visitors last year. <p>This is a twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications: Required</strong></p>

<p>The course is L-109 &#8211; Delivering Library Services: Issues, Theory, and Techniques and is for 2 semester units.</p>
<p>I have taught in this program part-time for many years and the students are smart and motivated.</p>
