<p>The Liaison Librarian is responsible for collection development, information literacy, reference service (to both university and public users) and research consultation in assigned subject areas. The Liaison Librarian participates in the library’s information literacy competence program, enhancement of the library’s technology-enabled informational and instructional services and products, the campus learning spaces and learning management systems, and university governance.</p>
<p>This is a twelve-month, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Senior Assistant Librarian.</p>
<p><strong>Qualifications: Required</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>MLS degree from an ALA accredited program or equivalent.</li>
<li>Experience and/or coursework in collection development, reference service/research consultation and information literacy/instruction.</li>
<li>Potential for scholarly research and/or professional achievement.</li>
<li>Awareness of and sensitivity to the educational needs of a diverse population, as gained through cross-cultural study, training, teaching and other comparable experience, as applied to ensuring user-centered services, systems, and programs.</li>
<li>Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with public and academic librarians and staff, teaching faculty, and students in a team-based organization and a rapidly changing information environment.</li>
<li>Demonstrated ability to plan, design, and implement innovative projects or services, including community outreach programs to the community.</li>
<li>Experience and/or coursework in incorporating current and emerging technologies into informational and instructional services.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Library at Holy Names University (3500 Mountain Boulevard, in the Oakland Hills) has an immediate opening for a part-time, temporary assistant reference librarian available one weeknight a week (the exact night to be determined in conversation with the library team), and Saturdays (10 a.m. &#8211; 3 p.m.), for a total of 8 hours per week through the end of spring semester, 2012.</p>
<p>This librarian will provide direct reference/research help in person and online to students, faculty, staff, and other members of the Holy Names University community. Also assists with circulation duties when needed. Other tasks may include updating resource guides (Libguides), assisting with library events, or other activities in support of the library’s mission.</p>
<p><strong>Required:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li> Masters of Library and Information Science</li>
<li>At least one year experience providing reference in an academic setting</li>
<li>Customer service experience and demonstrated ease in working with faculty, students, and staff</li>
<li>Tact, enthusiasm, and optimism</li>
<li>Excellent interpersonal skills</li>
<li>Experience with Libguides and various electronic databases</li>
<li>Availability to work Saturdays and one evening per week</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>H5’s Professional Services Group is looking to add Information Retrieval Researchers to our cross-functional project teams.  The core responsibilities of the Information Retrieval Researcher include self-directed research, documentation and presentation of research results, and data analysis.</p>

<p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Rapidly developing an understanding of new subject matter related to complex litigation via independent research and team interaction</li>
<li>Construct strategic search queries in large corpora of electronic data to locate targeted subject matter</li>
<li>Creatively solve information retrieval challenges using proven methodologies and self-generated ideas</li>
<li>Synthesizing large amounts of information from a variety of sources (case materials, client direction and feedback, internet sources)</li>
<li>Formulate and test hypotheses in a coherent and organized fashion within large corpora of electronic data</li>
<li>Presenting research results to a project team, discerning crucial information from less important details, and accurately depicting data trends and inconsistencies</li>
<li>Working in a fast-paced environment to meet client deadlines both collaboratively and autonomously</li>
<li>Undertaking and successfully concluding projects with minimal supervision while providing updates and progress reports to the project team</li>
</ul>

<li>Solid competency in a PC/Windows environment using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook)</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Experience with research, data analysis, text analysis, linguistic analysis</li>
<li>Knowledge or experience with the US legal system</li>
<li>2+ years of experience in a professional/ business environment</li>
<li>Experience with Concordance and similar legal search platforms a plus</li>
<li>BA or BS (MA, MS, JD, LLM, or MLS a plus)</li>
</ul>
<p>This is a temporary/contract assignment position.</p>
