The award winning San José Public Library System is seeking candidates for the position Web Librarian I/II. This Web Librarian position will be responsible for performing a variety of typical professional librarian duties such as analyzing, interpreting and answering reference questions, and providing reader’s advisory information; supervising, leading or training the work of a clerical and technical staff as assigned. In addition, this position will also be responsible for performing a variety of web-services related professional librarian duties. This may include: website maintenance; web design including graphical design and user-oriented information architecture; using content management systems; writing code for server-side applications and websites; ensuring web accessibility; maintaining social web presences and audio and video content; working in a Windows , Linux or Unix server environment; managing database-driven web content; trendwatching in areas of library and technology services; managing projects, including directing the work of clerical or technical staff; providing library staff with support for and training on web services; and working with other Digital Future staff to constantly improve the library’s eBranch as a whole.
