Description: The Library seeks a full-time (40 hours per week) Library Assistant.

Primary Responsibilities:
The Library Assistant assists the Director of Library Services in the operation of the AU/SFBA Library, with particular responsibility for copy cataloging, acquisitions, and interlibrary loan. Supervises shelving and general stack maintenance. Oversees maintenance of the periodical collection. Handles basic reference questions and circulation-related correspondence. Gathers and reports statistics. Maintain administrative files and catalogs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Library Technology Certificate or equivalent library experience
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience with automated library systems (SFBA uses Endeavor's Voyager OPAC)
  • Experience with cataloging utilities such as OCLC
  • Experience with automated ILL systems such as OCLC and Docline
  • Commitment to working in a service-oriented environment
  • Good organizational skills; reliable work habits; ability to work independently
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience
  • Editing, desktop publishing, and Excel skills
Salary:
  • $25-30,000 depending on experience and qualifications
  • Excellent benefits

Housing approximately 5,000 volumes of books, journals, videos, and psychological tests, the AU/SFBA Library primarily serves the faculty and students of the AU/SFBA campus in Pt. Richmond, but it is also a resource for the No. CA Consortia of Psychology Libraries, of which AU/SFBA is a member school. Argosy University (formerly the American School of Professional Psychology) is comprised of thirteen campuses with a combined Fall 2002 enrollment of 6,000 students. The AU/SFBA campus offers graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels in clinical and counseling psychology, education, and business; and a bachelor degree completion program in psychology.
