Work Days: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Hours: 5 hours per day, flexible

Education: Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education and library experience.

Description: The Kaiser Permanente MultiMedia Library is a special medical library with a collection of Clinical Education, Staff Development, Customer Service, Chemical Dependency/Mental Health, and Health Education materials. The library contains over 6,000 items, most of which are videotapes but include audiotapes, CDs, DVDs, and books. Material is borrowed by Kaiser physicians, Kaiser Staff, members, community healthcare clinicians, and the general public. Communication formats include phone, fax, e-mail, inter-office mail, insured mail, and in person.

Qualifications:
  • Significant experience in a library setting
  • Familiarity with: medical terminology, cataloging, In-Magic/Dbtext or library software (if possible), and simple search strategies
  • Strong communication, customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in PC-based computer usage such as Microsoft Office, e-mail and the Internet
  • Ability to work independently, good organization skills, and attention to detail
  • Must be able to multi-task and work under time constraints
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds
Duties:
  • Provide MultiMedia Library services to the Kaiser Permanente medical centers, regional offices, both locally and nationally, and community library users
  • Assistant with circulation of library materials and communication to library users
  • Assist with marketing the online library to various community groups
  • Assist with maintenance of library database
  • Assist with processing of materials
  • Help with shelving and weeding of library materials
  • Maintains administrative files, department records, vendor catalogs, brochures and books.
