Description: San Francisco State University J. PAUL LEONARD LIBRARY CALLING FOR NON-TENURE TRACK LIBRARIANS

Qualifications:

Required for all positions: MLS from an ALA-accredited institution. For additional requirements for specific positions, see below.

Positions:

Special Collections Coordinator- In preparation for a building project, take the lead in preparing books, media, and artifacts in special library collections for transfer to an automated library retrieval system or temporary storage. Supervise staff, provide patron assistance, and participate in planning a new facility projected to open in 2008. A full job description is available at www.library.sfsu.edu/jobs Required: Knowledge of the special requirements in housing and handling rare or unique materials. Preferred: Experience in a large special collection or archive and with project leadership. Classification/time base: Lecturer at the rank of Assistant Librarian or Sr. Assistant Librarian depending upon qualifications and experience. Full time.

Reference/Instruction Librarian - Provide library instruction to upper division and graduate courses, particularly in education and the social sciences, provide reference service at a busy general reference desk, and participate in collection development. May develop instructional guides. Must be able to work some evenings and weekends at the Reference Desk and to adjust schedule to teach evening courses when needed. Preferred: Background and experience teaching in the subject areas listed, experience providing reference service in an academic library, experience in selecting subject collections. Classification/time base: Assistant Librarian (Lecturer), time base, .5 -1.0

Temporary Pool Librarians- Part-time temporary positions may be available beginning fall semester 2004 or other times as needed. Appointments in the Information, Research and Instructional Services division, temporary librarians work at a busy general reference desk serving a diverse community of university students and faculty. Preferred: Experience providing reference service and group instruction in an academic library. Experience developing research guides for library instruction. Classification: Assistant Librarian (Lecturer).

Salary Ranges (Monthly Full Time Equivalent): Assistant Librarian: $3,472 - $4,175; Sr. Assistant Librarian: $4,175 - $5,275.
