Description: 50% Position - flexible 20 hours/week

The Resource Acquisitions Specialist acquires selected library resources in various format (with increasing emphasis on digital content) using various information systems and communicating with staff, users, and suppliers. Ensures completion of financial transactions in new system (temporary emphasis).

Reports to: Acquisitions Manager

Major Responsibilities

**Acquires library materials. Searches, orders, receives, claims, processes new acquisitions and gifts using RLIN, Socrates, Voyager, and other systems. Creates and/or modifies records using judgment in applying established procedures and recommends solutions to problems. Processes returns. Deals with multiple, complex, and changing systems as well as vagaries of digital resources.
**Processes incoming materials. Verifies, prepares, and processes invoices and credit invoices using Voyager, iProcurement, and ReportMart. Recommends solutions to complex problems. Keeps statistics and maintains related documents.
**Manages the day-to-day gifts workflow. Answers phone calls and email; organizes, routes, and disposes of incoming materials. Communicates with the Admin Office re acknowledgements.
**Communicates with students, faculty, staff, donors, publishers, and vendors by phone, email, letter and in person regarding acquisitions and donations.
**Maintains departmental files. Completes other projects and tasks as assigned. Exercises judgment in using email and networked resources.
**May be called upon to answer questions at the public Information Desk one hour per week.

Qualifications
**Two year college degree or equivalent.
**Library skills, preferably in using automated acquisitions systems and database searching, equivalent to a minimum of two years of experience.
**Ability to multitask and to learn new systems and procedures quickly.
**Ability to adhere to rigorous accuracy and thoroughness requirements.
**Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team in an environment with many interruptions.
**Medical terminology sufficient to discern content relationships of significance to our systems and services.
**Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing for understanding and expressing complex topics effectively.
**Computer skills: database programs (preferably library systems and financial systems), word processing, spreadsheets, and comfort in dealing with a variety of changing systems licensed for users.
