The Alameda County Library seeks an innovative and creative leader with experience in managing regional and branch library operations to serve as Deputy County Librarian for a dynamic library system in the Bay Area of California. The Library's customer service focused staff provide a rich array of programs and services (including excellent online services) to customers in five cities and the unincorporated areas of Alameda County. POSITION DESCRIPTION

Under administrative direction the Deputy County Librarian is responsible for the effective and economical administration, supervision, planning, and evaluation of all public services in the branch libraries throughout the County. The ideal candidate will have a belief in the essential role of public libraries in their communities, a demonstrated history of library advocacy and political savvy.

Qualifications:

Equivalent of five years of full-time, recent, increasingly responsible supervisory and administrative experience in a community library system, at least three years of which must include participation in program and policy determination either on a system-wide basis or as the librarian in charge of a large branch. An accredited MLS degree is required.

Salary:

$8,395 to $10,218/monthly
