The Library seeks a full-time Librarian. This is a newly created position, as the campus has grown dramatically in both program number (12 programs in Psychology, Education and Business) and student body size of almost 600 students.

Argosy University (formerly the American School of Professional Psychology) is comprised of fifteen campuses, nationwide. The AU/SFBA campus offers graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels in clinical and counseling psychology, education, and business; and bachelor degree completion programs in psychology and business. By Fall 2006, we will have over 600 students, attending weekday, weeknight, and weekend courses. Argosy U/SFBA serves a diverse student body and encourages applications from under-served populations. Responsibilities:

The Librarian assists the Director of Library Services in the operation of the AU/SFBA Library, with particular responsibility for copy cataloging and interlibrary loan.

Secondary responsibilities involve reference and research instruction. Additional duties include supervising student assistants in shelving, circulation, maintenance of the periodical collection and general stack maintenance. Gathers and reports statistics. Other projects as needed.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution
  • Experience/knowledge in reference services and bibliographic instruction
  • Excellent computer skills, with experience in Word, Excel and Access
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with OPACs, electronic databases, and the Internet
  • Experience with automated ILL systems such as OCLC and Docline
  • Commitment to working in a service-oriented environment
  • Good organizational skills; reliable work habits; ability to work independently
  • Experience with cataloging utilities such as OCLC

  • Supervisory experience
