About CIIS and the Laurance C. Rockefeller Library:

The California Institute of Integral Studies has undergraduate and graduate (MA, PhD and PsyD) programs, with currently approximately 1000 students. It is located in downtown San Francisco. The library holds about 40,000 items, offers an increasing number of online services, and a growing instructional program. The library's catalog and circulation system are currently available through the Sagebrush Spectrum system.

In general, the Systems and Reference Librarian:

  • is the primary technical support for library staff and patrons on research databases and library automation;
  • is responsible for the library's extensive website (library.ciis.edu), and one of the staff responsible for the library's automated systems;
  • serves as a key provider of services to growing segment of online and distance learners;
  • participates in reference services;
  • coordinates the electronic reserve services;
  • on a day-to-day basis, serves as liaison to the Institute's Information Technology Services unit.

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in library/information services from an ALA-accredited program is required. A minimum of one year of related technical and professional experience is required, preferably in an academic library (including demonstrated HMTL coding experience for a library website). Outstanding communication and customer service skills are required; demonstrated teaching skills preferred. A background in psychology or other areas of the Institute's curriculum is desirable.

Salary:

This position reports to the Library Director. Salary will be commensurate with experience, with an extensive benefits package. This is a full time position; some evening and/or weekend hours are required.
