| Description: | Library Assistant II University Library - Concord campus #001154 DUTIES OF THE POSITION: CSUEB Concord Campus Library Full-time. Hours: Monday - Thursday 9:30 AM - 8:30 PM, with the possibility of nights, weekends, or other schedule changes, as needed. Please note: Position will be at the Concord Campus located on Ygnacio Valley Road in Concord, however periodic travel to CSUEB's Hayward Hills campus might be required. Oversees Circulation Desk functions, including the supervision of student assistants, and cashiering duties; assists and supports library coordinator, library faculty, and staff with reference service and research projects, bibliographic reports, interlibrary loan support, staff meetings, statistical reporting, etc.; in the absence of the librarian, provides reference and interpretive assistance to students, staff, and faculty in the Concord campus database center, reference stacks, and over the telephone; and completes miscellaneous duties, such as serving as building safety coordinator, acting as receptionist for campus tutoring program, maintaining the library facility and equipment, and completing bibliographic headings report for the cataloging department on the Hayward campus; other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Three years of library assistant experience, or the following combination of post secondary education and experience: two years library assistant experience and two years of education, or one year library assistant experience and four years of education. Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and ability may be substituted. Experience with automated circulation systems; ability to touch type and use a computer keyboard; knowledge of one or more word-processing programs (note: MSWord, Excel and Power Point are required); demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with diverse student, staff, faculty and community populations. Desired: One year experience supervising student assistants; familiarity with the Library of Congress Classification system; knowledge of Innopac Millennium circulation system; experience using online databases, e.g., Infotrac, ERIC or PsycInfo.
