The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for Senior Library Technician-Acquisitions and Processing, Library Services, De Anza College.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Under limited direction, reports to the Librarian with lead responsibility for technical services. Order, receive and process library materials. Process invoices for payment; maintain accurate accounting records and monitor the materials budgets. Hire, train, and provide direction to student employees. Generate reports using SIRSI, the Library's automated system. Order, receive, and store supplies. Participate in division projects, committees and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Successful candidates will demonstrate and/or provide evidence of some or all of the following qualifications:
  1. Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background and sexual orientation of community college student, faculty and staff. (required)
  2. Any combination equivalent to an Associate's degree.
  3. Four years of increasingly responsible technical library experience.
  4. Library Technician certificate. (preferred)
  5. Knowledge of library/media terminology.
  6. Knowledge of standard library/media practices.
  7. Knowledge of practices and techniques used in an automated library environment.
  8. Knowledge of the general types and uses of library print and non-print materials.
  9. Knowledge of library systems and services.
  10. Knowledge of the library of Congress classification system.
  11. Knowledge of automated bibliographic records.
  12. Knowledge of computer hardware and software programs including Microsoft Office, File Maker Pro, Page Maker or equivalent.
  13. Ability to use a high degree of initiative, originality, and judgment, attention to detail and accuracy in applying principles and procedures to complex and unusual situations.
  14. Ability to work independently.
  15. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  16. Ability to interact in a courteous and effective manner with diverse patrons and college employees.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary: $3,312.26 per month plus benefits; level N-44
Position: Full-time, Permanent, 12 months per year
Starting date: As soon as possible upon completion of the search process.
