Library Associates seeks a Reference Librarian with 3-5 years of reference experience, preferably in a law firm library.

Qualifications:

  • Experience using online and print sources such as LexisNexis, Westlaw, Hoover's, ChoicePoint, Courtlink, and other, similar sources.
  • Experience using the Internet to answer complex reference questions is highly desirable.
  • A Master's degree in Library Information Science from an ALA-accredited university is preferred; however, we will consider applicants that have the equivalent experience, provided all other criteria are met.

Duties:

  • Provide reference and research for a busy reference desk in response to simple and complex questions on legal, business, public records and general news subjects.
  • Manage electronic and manual cost recovery for the firm's two largest vendors.
  • Under the direction of the Management, conduct training and orientation for new attorneys and staff.
  • Meet with information-provider vendors for online services and learn as much as possible about new services, upgrades to existing services, and other products that might benefit the firm.
  • Arrange for demos and training sessions with vendors and attorneys and professional staff.
  • Develop content for the information services pages of the firm's Intranet.
  • Work with the Management to create marketing and promotional programs and materials to help attorneys and staff learn more about the services offered by Information Services.
  • Retrieve, organize and deliver cases, statutes and other authorities for litigation support.
  • Work on special projects as needed.
