Library Associates is seeking candidates and referrals for a Senior Manager of Taxonomy for our client, a major Internet Search company. Internet-based search is an area of online advertising that has shown phenomenal annual growth. Become part of a team where intelligence, creativity, and ability are well rewarded. We seek a visionary, innovated, experienced leader who creates new strategies and holds editorial responsibility for the taxonomical categories.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage business-specific directory and thesaurus;
  • Develop and execute a strategic plan to maintain and expand the taxonomy;
  • Research and evaluate business-to-business markets to identify new categories;
  • Expand and refine business keyword library;
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing to expand the taxonomy in a manner that is consistent with overall corporate goals;
  • Partner with Product Management to ensure a high quality user experience;
  • Manage 2 staff members

Qualifications:

  • At least 4 years experience creating, implementing and maintaining public-facing Internet taxonomies, thesauri and controlled vocabularies aimed at professionals, services, businesses;
  • 2 years of experience working in a consumer-oriented Internet search company are strongly preferred;
  • Significant experience developing and maintaining keyword libraries and hierarchical classification systems;
  • Prior experience in a strategic taxonomy planning role;
  • Understanding of the Internet industry and how users perform searches;
  • Knowledge of Search Engines and the Pay-Per-Click Advertising industry;
  • Ability to use taxonomy software and toolsets;
  • Additional skills include project management, product development, and ability to act as a resource and liaison for multiple internal contacts;
  • Excellent online research and analytical skills;
  • Masters Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent experience
