Description:

Library Associates seeks candidates and referrals for the position of Legal Reference Services Manager for a large firm in downtown Los Angeles. This is a newly created position and we are seeking dynamic, energetic candidates with strong professional associations.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage staff and services of Research Dept.;
  • Develop service standards and research products delivered by group;
  • Coordinate resources, communications, training and support within the unit to ensure consistently high-quality research and services;
  • Align departmental goals with library and corporate goals;
  • Train and develop staff and staff managers within department, including managing performance of Team Managers;
  • Proactively monitor industry trends, internal business direction, and guide department to meet future research needs;
  • Manage planning processes for the following:
    • Staffing
    • Space planning
    • Projects
    • Collaboration with European Library Team Manager and coordination of similar research services worldwide
    • Collaboration with other Library Managers and Team Managers on library-wide goals and initiatives
    • Coordination of research services with other business areas and provision of support to associates.

Qualifications:

  1. MLS, MBA, or related Master's degree
  2. 10+ years of research experience in a library or information center
  3. 5+ years of management experience
  4. Strong leadership skills, ability to inspire and share a vision, enthusiasm, and so on
  5. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  6. Very high level of customer service orientation and skills
  7. Ability to coach business associates
  8. Ability to foster relationships with team and across departments
  9. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  10. Ability to be flexible and adaptable
  11. Ability to maintain the highest ethical standards and demonstrate excellent in own work performance
