The Menlo College Bowman Library is seeking experienced public services librarians to join our library team in providing innovative, personalized library services emphasizing information technology to undergraduates and faculty. Part-Time: 10-15 hours per week, during academic year, evenings and weekends.

Salary: $17-$25 per hour, depending upon experience

General description and duties:

Provides information, reference, and research assistance to a diverse population of undergraduate users (including adult learners in the Professional Studies Program). In addition to providing reference services through a variety of modes, will share in a variety of duties depending upon experience/interests, including the following: reference collection maintenance and development; enhancement of Library Web pages and instructional materials; cataloging and acquisitions projects; supervising library operations evenings and weekends.

Qualifications:

Required: ALA accredited MLS. Minimum 1 year reference/instruction experience in an academic library setting. Must have a strong grasp of the current state of information technology and its potential for innovative instructional and reference services; experience with web page development; knowledge of Windows and integrated library systems; knowledge of the Internet and WWW; strong commitment to excellent public service; proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public; effective written and oral communication skills.

Preferred: Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience in business administration, management, communications, or related field. Experience in using, explaining, and teaching both print and electronic resources; familiarity with issues and trends related to library instructional and information services in an electronic environment.
