Description: Menlo College Electronic Resources & Systems Librarian (Part-time)

The Menlo College Bowman Library is seeking an experienced librarian to join our library team in providing innovative, personalized library services emphasizing information technology to undergraduates and faculty. Part-Time: 20 hours per week; some evenings and weekends required. This is a temporary appointment through 6/30/06, with a possibility of renewal. Position subject to funding availability.

Salary: $24-$27 per hour, depending upon experience

General Description and Duties:

Reporting to the Dean of Library and Information Services, the Electronic Resources and Systems Librarian coordinates the Library's activities related to the maintenance of electronic products and services, the III/Millennium ILS, and the web site. Coordinates activities/duties closely with the Information Integration Architect, with emphasis on the planned upgrade to the III/Millennium ILS. Promotes electronic resources and recommends new e-resources for the Library collection. Web services responsibilities include working closely with the Library Team to facilitate access to the library's digital resources; identify and provide new and innovative technology solutions to enhance services to users; and collaborate with library staff to develop and maintain web pages. Coordinates maintenance of Library computer equipment with the Office of Information Technology. Provides information, reference, and research assistance to a diverse population of undergraduate users.

Qualifications:

Required: ALA accredited MLS. 3-5 years relevant electronic resources and systems experience in an academic library setting, including experience with III ILS, preferably Millennium. Must demonstrate a strong grasp of the current state of integrated library systems and information technology; experience in web design and usability; applied knowledge of standard web tools and standards; user-centered design; knowledge of Windows; knowledge of the Internet and WWW; strong commitment to excellent public service; proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public; effective written and oral communication skills, including classroom teaching experience. Ability to work successfully in a team. Excellent project management skills.

Preferred: Undergraduate degree or equivalent relevant experience in business administration, management, communications, or related field. Experience in using, explaining, and teaching both print and electronic resources; familiarity with issues and trends related to library instruction, information services in an electronic environment.
