| Description: | Menlo College, Access Services Assistant The Menlo College Bowman Library is seeking an experienced library technician to join our library team in providing innovative, personalized library services emphasizing information technology to undergraduates and faculty. For more information about the Bowman Library, visit our website at www.menlo.edu/library Part-time: 20 hours per week, some evenings and weekends required. General description and duties: Supports the Library's access and technical services programs by facilitating both physical and intellectual access to the Library's collections. Key work activities include working at the Circulation and Reserves Desk; assisting in acquiring, processing, and maintaining materials for the Library's collections; serials check-in, shelf-preparation and claiming late issues; assisting in processing interlibrary loan requests using OCLC; processing course reserves; providing assistance with maintenance and basic troubleshooting of Library's copy machine, computer workstations, printers, and other equipment; and may occasionally supervise student assistants. Qualifications: Required: 1-2 years related support staff or paraprofessional experience in an academic, special library, or related environment; experience performing library services in an automated, integrated library system, preferably III Millennium ILS; familiarity with USMARC formats; a demonstrated knowledge of the Library of Congress classification system; demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; knowledge of the internet and the worldwide web; proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public; effective written and oral communication skills; ability to work effectively in a rapidly changing environment. Preferred: Experience using OCLC cataloging and resource sharing (ILL) subsystems; some experience with basic troubleshooting of computer workstations, printers and copier machines; a Bachelors degree and/or formal education in library technical services highly desirable.
