Description: Coordinator, Education and Information Services

The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) invites applications for a full-time Coordinator of Education and Information Services based at the Barnett-Briggs Medical Library, San Francisco General Hospital Medical Center. Responsibilities: Incumbent will be responsible for the management of knowledge-based information systems, resources and services for faculty, staff and students at the SFGH campus; supervise the daily operation and long-range planning for the Medical Library's reference and research services and the Microcomputer Training Center; plan, evaluate and implement comprehensive information reference/referral services using both electronic and print resources; maintain the Library's website; provide ongoing technical management and support of the Library's computing environment; manage Library's informatics training activities; coordinate library collection development activities; conduct user surveys to improve and enhance library services; oversee the work of a library assistant; provide administrative/staff support for Library operations; participate in strategic planning as a member of the department's senior management; represent the Library in the manager's absence; serve as key liaison to the SFGH and Parnassus campuses, including work groups and committees; and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements: BA/BS with a major in Library Information Science or a related field and four years of experience in administrative analysis or operations research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience, to include three years of post-degree experience in a health science library environment; experience providing medical reference services; extensive knowledge of core biomedical and nursing databases and concomitant searching skills, including PubMed and CINAHL; demonstrated training, presentation and documentation proficiency; demonstrated computer and organizational skills; in-depth knowledge of Windows systems and application software; knowledge of web design and authoring tools; excellent interpersonal communication strengths; demonstrated ability to work well with individuals and health care professionals in a culturally diverse environment; ability to function in a service-driven, support-oriented environment and effectively respond to rapidly changing priorities; physical ability and manual dexterity to produce work 75% or more time using a computer; ability to travel via shuttle, public transportation or automobile to various UCSF work sites and offices to accomplish responsibilities of the position; physical ability to move material weighing 40 pounds.

Preferred: American Librarian Association accredited Masters' degree in library/information science (MLIS); knowledge of evidence-based medicine principles; experience with California Digital Library (UC) search systems; knowledge of current information and instructional technology trends; knowledge of Macintosh systems and application software.

Salary/Benefits: Salary: $4,292 - $7,083 monthly commensurate with experience and skills. Excellent University of California benefits package.
