The Library seeks a full-time Librarian. This is a recently created position, as the campus has grown dramatically in both program number (12 programs in Psychology, Education and Business) and student body size of almost 600 students. Argosy University / San Francisco Bay Area (AU/SFBA, formerly the American School of Professional Psychology) is comprised of fifteen campuses, nationwide. The AU/SFBA campus offers graduate programs at the master's and doctoral levels in clinical and counseling psychology, education, and business; and bachelor degree completion programs in psychology and business. By Fall 2006, we will have over 600 students, attending weekday, weeknight, and weekend courses. AU/SFBA serves a diverse student body and encourages applications from under-served populations. Responsibilities:

The Librarian assists the Director of Library Services in the operation of the AU/SFBA Library, with particular responsibility for cataloging (95% copy cataloging), supervising student assistants who perform all circulation functions and book processing, and maintaining library user guides and bibliographies. Secondary responsibilities involve reference and research instruction and supervision of a part-time Interlibrary Loan assistant. Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution
  • Experience/knowledge in reference services and bibliographic instruction
  • Excellent computer skills, including knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with OPACs, electronic databases, and the Internet
  • Experience with automated ILL systems such as OCLC FirstSearch and Docline
  • Commitment to working in a service-oriented environment
  • Good organizational skills; reliable work habits; ability to work independently
  • Experience with cataloging utilities such as OCLC Connexion

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience formulating Access queries/reports
  • Experience using Voyager for circulation and cataloging
