De Anza College in Cupertino, California is hiring part-time Reference Librarians beginning Winter Quarter 2007. The hourly shifts will be for weekdays from Monday-Thursday from 5:00pm-9:00pm and on Saturdays from 10:00am-4:00pm. Winter Quarter begins on January 8 and ends on March 30. The primary duty of the position is to provide general reference assistance and instruction on the use of print and electronic information resources to students, faculty, staff, and the community. Part-time Librarians are also expected to conduct library orientations, to assist in collection development, and to perform other duties as assigned. Candidates must have a graduate degree from an ALA accredited program; recent experience with Internet-based technologies; excellent oral communication skills; and demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse user population. Preference will be given to candidates with recent professional academic reference experience. Preference will also be given to candidates able to work regular shifts on nights and weekends.
