Dominican University of California seeks an Executive Director of Library Services to administer, manage, and supervise the day-to-day operations in a private university library. The successful candidate will be expected to provide administrative leadership and oversight of the library facility, its academic services, collection management, distribution of instructional media resources, consortia efforts and its use for non-Library functions, as well as the ability to oversee library technology infrastructure and online services. Qualified candidates will demonstrate a commitment to diversity, consensus building, and collegial processes and will be expected to promote an atmosphere where planning, teamwork, and cooperation are emphasized.

The University seeks an individual able to embrace the full spectrum of electronic and automated technologies while recognizing the continual role of print media. We seek a candidate with a proven track record as a dynamic advocate for a teaching and learning environment who has a passion for academic excellence and a willingness to provide leadership in the expansion of Dominican's library and instructional resources

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution and a minimum of five years of successful library administrative experience is required.
  • A second advanced degree in a subject area and/or a doctorate is preferred.
  • Candidates should have substantial knowledge in the areas of library collections, services, and operations;
  • Fiscal and strategic planning and management;
  • Human resources management;
  • Current and emerging information technologies;
  • As well as the ability to coordinate automated library functions with campus-wide information technology services.
  • The candidate should be knowledgeable about current and future trends in classroom and distance learning, and the electronic tools used in both.
  • Experience in teaching at the college or university level is desired.
