The Foothill-De Anza Community College District is currently accepting applications for the faculty position of Technical Services Librarian, Technology and Instruction, Foothill College.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Technology and Instruction, coordinate and oversee the technical services area of the library including acquisitions, cataloging, interlibrary loan, and materials processing of books, periodicals, non-print media (including e-books and other electronic resources), software, and other materials.
- Oversee technical services operations and staff, including student workers.
- Oversee and develop cataloging processes and procedures, and provide original cataloging as necessary for print and non-print materials.
- Coordinate and manage the acquisition and processing of all print and non-print materials, monitor work flow in the technical services area and ensure the quality and accuracy of the database and materials processing.
- Work directly with the Collection Development librarian and other librarians in the retention and discarding of library materials, and all other aspects of librarianship.
- Share significant reference responsibilities with other librarians.
- Interface with jobbers and vendors for all library materials as appropriate.
- Serve as library liaison to divisions and areas of the college as assigned.
- Standard duties expected of all faculty include development and evaluation of curricula, maintaining scheduled office hours, attendance at department and division meetings, pursuing professional growth activities, and performing other duties consistent with the role of a faculty member.
- Faculty also have the opportunity to serve on District and college committees and participate in campus extra-curricular activities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Understanding of, sensitivity to, and respect for the diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability, religious background and sexual orientation of community college students, faculty and staff.
- Master's in library science, library and information science OR the equivalent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Technical services experience including cataloging and overseeing technical services staff.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in technical services including standard MARC formats, AACR II, and Library of Congress classification and subject headings.
- Experience with original and complex copy cataloging of print and non-print materials, including electronic resources.
- Experience using a bibliographic utility, preferably OCLC, and an integrated library system, preferably SIRSI's Unicorn System.
- Knowledge of and experience with emerging trends and technologies in technical services, including current metadata schemes and evolving standards.
- Strong reference skills suitable to the community college setting.
- Knowledge of and experience in information competency instruction. 8. Strong interpersonal skills.
- Decision-making experience in a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, faculty, and staff.
- Academic library experience, preferably in a community college.
- Commitment to integrating information systems.
- A strong orientation to service, knowledge of trends and standards in the community college library and involvement in professional organizations.

SALARY RANGE: $48,012-$74,694 annually plus benefits; actual placement is non-negotiable and is based on applicant's verified education and experience.

Faculty are also eligible for paid sabbatical leaves and stipends for educational and professional development.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full-time, Permanent,
10 months per year.
