Description:

Library Associates is seeking a Corporate Librarian for a busy international corporation located in Mountain View, California. This is an ongoing, part-time contract position. Hours are not to exceed 30 hours/week during business hours. This position is for a site librarian to manage the activities of this branch library, reporting to the Off-Site Library Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage in site library team planning, discussions, policies and process development, and problem troubleshooting/resolution.
  • Document, implement, and execute library site policies, processes and changes when approved by the Site Library Manager.
  • Ensure site library is staffed during Site's normal business hours.
  • Participate in selection and training of library staff. Train back-up as necessary.
  • Prepare routine and ad hoc reports assigned by Site Library Manager.
  • Meet established policy/process deadlines and turnaround times.
  • Answer customer questions escalating to Site Library Manager as necessary.
  • Provide library tools and resources instruction to customers.
  • Process library materials purchase requests for Site Library Manager approval. Oversee acquisition and delivery of rush orders for materials.
  • Present library services overview as requested.
  • Manage the library space to facilitate services to customer groups.
  • Work on special projects assigned by the Site Library Manager.
  • Manage the circulation process and queue for library requests to include email and phone contact with library users on circulation related questions.
  • Open and close library as required.

Qualifications:

  1. MLS from an accredited ALA university.
  2. Previous corporate library experience preferred.
  3. Ability to manage and train library support personnel.
  4. General knowledge of library functions; reference, cataloging, circulation procedures.
  5. Excellent communication skills.
  6. Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  7. Professional demeanor.
