Description:

Library Associates seeks for immediate consideration candidates and referrals for a Junior-Level Corporate Reference / Document Delivery Professional position in Los Angeles. The Reference/Document Delivery Professional's purpose is to provide reference services for document and information requests and to coordinate with both external information providers and internal sources resources to maximize the fulfillment of reference requests.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure document request orders are matched to appropriate bibliographic records in internal database, consulting multiple online library catalogs.
  • Perform online searches for articles and reports and initiate contact with publishers and vendors in order to fill document delivery requests for items not held at library sources.
  • Verify and/or correct citation details using online resources.
  • Communicate status notes to clients regarding document availability, price limits, and accuracy of citations.
  • Identify problem orders and use inter-departmental and/or inter-vendor interfaces to make informed decisions on a case-by-case basis.
  • Generate and document written correspondence with clients, publishers, and library vendors.
  • Collaborate closely with Client Services Department on order irregularities or client queries on order requests.
  • Update and maintain accuracy of internal database to ensure rapid procurement of ordered materials.

Qualifications:

  • Masters in Library Science required.
  • 1–3 years previous library work experience.
  • Proficiency with desktop software, specifically, MS Word, Excel, e-mail and the internet.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to be efficient and meet deadlines.
  • Proven problem solving ability.
  • Knowledge of university and library catalogues preferred.
