Library Associates is seeking referrals and candidates for a LIBRARY MANAGER position for its client, a major government agency in Washington, DC. The Library Manager will manage and direct all aspects of a technical research library.

**NOTE** This position is contingent upon award of a job we are bidding. The position will be offered only after notification of award and after right of first refusal is given to qualified incumbent personnel.

Qualifications:

  • MLS from ALA accredited institution;
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a technical research library;
  • 2 yrs. Supervisory experience;
  • Demonstrated management skills;
  • Sciences background preferred;
  • Knowledge of SIRSI ILS preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include supervision of professional and technical employees in the performance of research, reference, interlibrary loan, collection development, acquisitions, cataloging, and library automation. Serves as subcontract manager and coordinates with prime to ensure that all contractual and technical obligations are met.

Tasks include:

  • Selects, trains and motivates staff;
  • Maintains constant communication with agency technical personnel to ensure that all services, tasks and procedures meet agency standards, goals and guidelines. Works with agency personnel to develop strategic plans;
  • Prepares reports, statistics and progress reports, both written and verbal;
  • Monitors overall work quality and performance;
  • Provides reference, marketing and public outreach services;
  • Ensures compliance with all safety and security regulations and requirements;
  • Ensures compliance with deadlines and schedules;
  • Commits resources to fulfill requirements of contract;
  • Responds to change in technical direction within limits of contract;
  • Monitors library budgets and purchases of supplies and materials;
  • Manages and allocates contract budget with government authorization;
  • Discusses and negotiates any technical aspect of library operation with designated agency officials;
  • Directly accesses corporate resources as needed to assist in personnel, administrative, and contractual issues;
  • Contacts and works with agency personnel and library customers to monitor customer satisfaction and ensure high-quality responsive services;
