Description:

Library Associates is seeking a team-oriented Library Assistant for the San Francisco office of a busy international law firm.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic legal research and factual research;
  • Coordinates purchase, processing and payment of new library materials;
  • Assists with maintaining and developing the collection and resource materials, interlibrary loans and MCLE activities;
  • Orders and documents receipt of incoming library materials;
    • Processes new materials for cataloging;
    • Processes invoices for library materials and services;
  • Utilizes UNICORN to perform acquisitions, serials check-in and other processes
  • Provide a basic legal and non-legal research and reference services, the latter consisting of factual, financial/corporate and other factual reference services.
  • Perform electronic databases and CD-ROM applications searches, and assists others to perform same searches;
  • Shelves library materials and maintains library physical space;
  • Assists Library Manager with individual and group trainings of attorneys and paralegals in the Library's OPAC/SIRSI system and in e-resources;
  • Assists with interlibrary loans;
  • Assists with MCLE activities and record-keeping;
  • Assists Library Manager in purchase of legal and non-legal resources;
  • Helps assess resources delivered via the internet or proprietary software;
  • Accurately reports billable and non-billable time.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Prior law library experience preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of library and information services procedures and terminology.
  • Proven commitment to high level of client services;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong Interpersonal skills and a team player
  • PC skills in word processing software and library automation;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Detail-oriented, with demonstrated ability to maintain high quality and quantity work output;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a time-sensitive environment;
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs.
