Description:

Library Associates seeks a Lead Librarian to manage a multi-media center that supports the employees in a government organization and assists them in job performance by providing excellent resources and training materials. This position is in support of a government contract that Library Associates is bidding on, and candidates who qualify must be willing to sign a commitment letter. The actual project is expected to begin in early February 2007. This contract will take place in Washington D.C.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide collection development expertise in the areas of online learning, books, software and electronic resources, journals and CDs;
  • Package information, including electronic path-finders and bibliographies, to be made available virtually, on a per topic and/or country-specific basis;
  • Have experience with and expertise in distance learning, learning organizations; serve as the expert on the trends, technologies, methodologies and philosophies for distance and online learning;
  • Provide briefings, orientation and training sessions for employee orientation and learning;
  • Track and report on usage;
  • Collect, catalog, organize and circulate secondary materials in response to requests;
  • Provide backup support to other libraries within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • MLS with at least 3 years of experience in providing services similar to those cited in the responsibilities for this position;
  • Must be proficient in using virtual resources and have demonstrable knowledge of the subject matter;
  • Foreign language proficiency a plus;
  • Must be self-sufficient and motivated;

Compensation:

  • Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
