The Library and Center for Knowledge Management at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) seeks a creative individual to lead the education and information services programs at our dynamic and expanding academic health science campus.

Reporting to the Director, Education and Public Services, the Manager leads a team of 4 librarians who provide innovative information, reference, and education services to support the research education, and clinical missions of the campus. Also reporting to this position is the supervisor of the Library’s interlibrary loan services.

The Manager, Education and Information Services position is part of a team focused on education and public service which includes the managers of Public and Access Services and the Center for Instructional Technology. The incumbent will also work closely with many other areas of the Library including Digital Library Services and Collection Development and participates in statewide committees of the University of California.

Responsibilities:

  • The Manager will lead the development of education programs tailored to the needs of the UCSF faculty, clinicians, researchers and staff;
  • Collaborate with faculty to oversee the design, teaching and evaluation of a health sciences informatics curriculum within the four professional schools and graduate programs at UCSF;
  • Lead new initiatives that leverage technology to improve delivery of instructional and information services;
  • Develop and manage integrated service models that encompass walk-in information services, digital reference services, consulting services;
  • Collaborate with other public service units to develop integrated access services with primary responsibility for interlibrary lending and borrowing;
  • Build a library liaison program designed for needs assessment, marketing, education and evaluation;
  • Represent UCSF on system-wide committees of the University of California.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in library and information studies, information management, education or other relevant field;
  • 5 years experience in progressively responsible public services positions in health sciences or academic libraries;
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching and developing instruction programs;
  • Experience in the innovative application of technology to deliver information resources and instructional services;
  • Proven ability in managing multiple projects;
  • Experience managing staff in cross-functional teams and developing a team environment that fosters change and innovation;
  • Demonstrated ability to work individually and as a member of a team of highly motivated and experienced individuals;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrated service to the profession
