Full-Time Temporary Reference/Instruction Librarian
Job # 07-08 LIBR-ASSTLIBR-FT
Duties:
CSUEB seeks a highly motivated librarian with a strong interest in information literacy and teaching for a full-time, one-year position participating in the provision of instruction & reference services during the 2007/08 academic year. The candidate will teach credit information literacy courses, course-related instruction sessions in a variety of disciplines, and provide instructionally-focused reference services. Additional assignments may include the design of instructional materials in electronic and print formats, participation in ongoing curricular and assessment activities, and collection development.
Please note that the position may include day, night and weekend duties on both the Hayward Hills and Concord campuses of CSUEB.
Qualifications:
Graduate degree from an ALA-accredited institution; familiarity with the principles of information literacy; recent experience and/or education in library instruction; a willingness and ability to serve students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds; recent experience and/or education in the provision of academic reference services; excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work collegially in a diverse, fast-paced environment; a strong service commitment.
The Library:
The University Library at California State University East Bay participates in the University's teaching mission through an established and well regarded information literacy program. In addition to an active course-related instruction program, librarians teach a two-credit course which is an integral component of the University's General Education program and is required of all students in the First Year Cluster program. We provide instructionally-focused reference services at active desks in the Hayward and Concord Libraries, via telephone, email, instant messaging and chat services, and through Blackboard courseware.
