LAC seeks a temporary Law Librarian / Legal Researcher for a position in San Francisco, CA.  The position would start late August and probably go into early October. Candidates must have prior experience doing reference/research work in a law library.  Knowledge and familiarity with Lexis, Westlaw, and business research tools is key.    

Responsibilities 

  • Working as part of a team, provide extensive legal and non-legal (business) research and reference services for members and staff of several firm branches;
  • Databases used include: Westlaw, LexisNexis, Bloomberg, Dialog, OneSource;
  • Must be highly proficient with MS Office and comfortable with information technology;
  • Assist with collection development;
  • Assist with training and new-employee orientations;

 

Qualifications 

1.  MLS / MLIS / MSLS or any Master's of Library and/or Information Science from an ALA-accredited school.

2.  Superior research, reference, and database searching skills (all the major databases).

3.  Knowledge of legal and business resources in all formats is required.

4.  Ability to think and work independently, effectively, with minimum supervision, and sometimes in high-pressure situations.

5.  Ability to work flexibly, enthusiastically, and with a positive attitude (work history/resume should demonstrate this). 

6. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of firm personnel.
