Library Assistant, Library Associates [recruiter], Ione, CA

Library Associates is seeking a Library Assistant for a Correctional facility in Ione, California. This is an on-call position for approximately one year. The candidate will be a fill-in for Library personnel when they are on vacation, sabbatical. etc. This is an excellent opportunity for someone in a library program either at a four-year University or a two year program leading to a Certificate or Associate degree in Library Science. The library is located in Amador County and East of Sacramento and Stockton.  A background check will be required of all candidates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• General duties will include work in circulation, acquisition, reference, compilation of reading lists and general maintenance of the library
• Assist users in looking up the collection housed in the library.
• Assist in the training of inmate workers assigned to the library.

REQUIREMENTS

• Previous library experience is a high priority.
• Enrollment in a Library program either at the professional or paraprofessional level desirable.
• High degree of customer service capability.
• Good communication skills.
• Effectively contribute to the library's affirmative action objectives.
