Description:

LAC seeks a Library Manager for our client, a firm in Downtown, Los Angeles. The Manager's responsibilities include managing all aspects of the library's operations, provide research, training to attorneys and staff, and preparing the library's budget.

Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of the firm's LA office library;

Assist with firm's other offices as needed;

Provide research using databases and other library resources in many practice areas, with an emphasis on Litigation, Labor & Employment, Real Estate, and Corporate;

Provide training on electronic resources to attorneys and paralegals

Plan and manage print and non-print collection;

Coordination of in-house CLE seminars and assisting attorneys, paralegals with identifying and registering for programs;

Prepare and manage department's budget;

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree required.
  • 5 years of administrative, supervisory and research experience in a law library environment required.

Additional Qualifications:

·        MLS Degree, a plus;

·        Proficient in online databases, electronic resources and reference materials;

·        3 - 5 years of technical support experience in OPAC operations desired;

·        SIRSI experience a plus;

·        Must be able to demonstrate experience with Windows and Microsoft Office applications, LexisNexis, and Westlaw;

·        Working knowledge of CD-ROM search engines and other non-print platforms;

·        Experience in cataloging or classifying legal resource materials preferred;

·        Capacity to solve problems and analyze complex information;

·        Strong supervisory and library staff training experience as well as interest in promoting the Firm's library services;

·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills;

·        Must be able to work independently, but also as part of a team effort;

·        Demonstrable ability to consistently provide superior level of service;

·        Must be able to pass a background checks;
