APPOINTMENT
TYPE AND SCHEDULE: Provisional
Full-Time.
The
provisional appointee will be required to succeed in a Civil Service
Examination process for this class in order to be considered for a permanent
appointment to this position.
POSITION
DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the
Fifth Floor Manager, the Library Technical Assistant II performs a variety of
supervisory, reference desk, training, technical and clerical duties. The
essential duties and responsibilities include supervising, training and
evaluating pages and planning, assigning and directing material management work
on the 5th floor. Other duties include answering directional and informational
questions under the direction of a librarian at the Magazine & Newspapers
Center reference desk; contributing to the departmental blog; participating in
training for staff and the public about the Magazines & Newspapers Center
electronic and print collection and use of digital microfilm scanners; planning
for the implementation of a document delivery program and performing other
duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Four (4) years (8,000 hours) verifiable experience
in library work performing duties equivalent to those performed by incumbents
in class 3616, in at least one of the following areas: technical, circulation,
cataloging and /or information services; OR
2. Possession of an Associate of Arts degree in
Library Technology from an accredited college or university, and two (2) years
(4,000 hours) verifiable experience in library work as stated in the minimum
qualifications; OR
3. Possession of a baccalaureate degree from an
accredited college or university, and three (3) years (6,000 hours) of
verifiable experience in library work as stated in the minimum qualifications
SPECIAL CONDITION: None.
WORK
SCHEDULE: The normal work schedule
for these positions include weekend and evening hours; appointees must be
willing to work this schedule.

for use by the public. The hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
