California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco is a pioneer in integrative higher education, providing interdisciplinary, cross-cultural, and applied studies in psychology, philosophy, religion, cultural anthropology, transformative studies and leadership, integrative health, and the arts.

General Description

The Library Coordinator handles the timely delivery of interlibrary services, including receipt of ILL requests, online and consortial searching for material location and loan policies, receipt and return of ILL materials, and maintaining accurate records and statistics of these transactions. This position also includes assisting other library staff with related technical tasks.

This is an 80% position.  Position is opened until filled.

Specific Responsibilities

Interlibrary Loan (ILL):
1) Operates within the National Interlibrary Code, CIIS and consortium library policies for lending and borrowing between institutions
2) Receives ILL requests from CIIS Library patrons; and routes those requests to other participating libraries appropriately
3) Receives ILL requests from borrowing institutions, via OCLC, Docline, or mail.
4) Processes and responds to all ILL requests (borrowing and lending) in a timely basis.
5) Receives materials lent on interlibrary loan.
6) Notifies readers of outcome of their requests, of any necessary fees, of availability of material for pick-up, etc.
7) Returns ILL materials to lending libraries in a timely fashion
8) Maintains appropriate files and submits related monthly statistics
9) Communicates with other Library staff (e.g., Circulation team, Reference team) around related ILL activity.
10) Communicates with other institutions during all appropriate phases of interlending

Technical Assistance:
11) Assists with course reserves, both electronic (E-Res) and print, including scanning and post-processing if needed
12) May provide the similar services (receipt of requests, processing/mailing, and return receipt) for CIIS distance students.
13) Other duties as assigned


Required Qualifications

* Familiarity with semi-automated ILL systems (ILLIad, Docline) and/or with online library circulation systems.
* Familiarity with interlibrary loan policies, procedures, and regulations as practiced by academic or public libraries
* Attention to detail and to maintaining accurate records, including statistics and fee payments
* Good communication and public service skills
* Demonstrated commitment to user services

Advantageous:
* Ability to troubleshoot minor problems in use of library computers, printers, copier, etc. and to monitor equipment operation
* Familiarity with library research databases
* Able to work on Saturday afternoons during the semester.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: $27-30K FTE, DOE.  Medical, dental, 401K, VSP plan for optical, chiropractic and acupuncture benefits.  Employees are also enrolled in short and long-term disability benefits at not cost to you.  Our employees have a casual work environment, birthday is a paid day off as well as receiving 1 week paid time off in December.
