1.0 time base, 40 hrs/wk), $2,614.00-$3,921.00/mo. Back-up for weekend shift, on rotation.
Access Services makes available library materials for circulation, maintains inventory control over all circulation materials, maintains physical collections, makes photo ID cards, and serves as a public contact/public relations area within the Library. The purpose of this position is to oversee the photo ID operation while working with the rest of the Access Services staff, including serving at the Circulation Desk and being available for evening/weekend rotation as needed.
This position coordinaates all aspects of CSU, East Bay Photo ID Services, including providing electronically-readable photo ID cards to students, faculty and staff, verifying cardholder identification and verifying student enrollment via PeopleSoft. Duties will include: setting up the camera; logging onto the photo ID software applications; preparing the desk before opening hour of the Library; ordering supplies as needed from Planning & Enrollment Management; processing all returned ID cards daily; disposing of ID cards that have not been picked up after one Quarter and updating all records; maintaining statistics on the number of ID cards made, returned and disposed of on a daily basis. Gives top priority to walk-up clients and interacts with all users in an efficient manner that reflects positively on the University and Library. Trains student assistants so that they are fully prepared to create database records, make photo IDs, and assign library privileges. Reviews and updates procedures annually. Troubleshoots cameras and photo ID printers as needed. REQUIRES: Three years of library clerical assistant experience; or two years of library clerical assistant work and two years of college education; or one year of library clerical assistant experience and four years of college education; or completion of a library assistant trainee program. Ability to: work accurately with attention to detail; use discretion in applying rules, regulations and procedures; communicate effectively using standard English; work cooperatively with others; and use a desktop computer. Must have a working knowledge of library terminology, general bibliographic forms and structures, and library computer applications. PREFERENCES: Familiarity with Library of Congress Classification System; experience with automated circulation systems; knowledge of customer service principles. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds; work in an environment where there may be dust; and be able to reach top shelves or stand on a step stool. DEADLINE TO APPLY: AUGUST 10, 2007 Joseph Corica
