SYSTEMS LIBRARIAN – ENCORE SERVICES

IMPLEMENTATION SERVICE DEPARTMENT

Systems Librarians in the Encore Services Unit provide customer support and implementation services to our Encore customers.  Encore is a new discovery platform that ties together multiple products in an appealing, sophisticated, and easy to use interface.  Encore provides users the experience of the library using expanded search functionality, community features, and a rich presentation that includes federated-search results and contextual resource suggestions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide customer support for libraries using Innovative's Encore software.
• Participate in the development and beta support of the Encore product.
• Facilitate communications between development partners and product development.
• Participate in the planning and execution for database profiling.
• Manage new Encore implementation projects.
• Configure Encore system options and features.
• Provide on-site product presentations and introduction services.
• Participate in user conferences including staffing product booths.
• Develop support guidelines and documentation.
• Instruct Innovative staff on features and functionality of Encore.
• Coordinate support of integrated products for Encore systems (ResearchPro, Webpac etc…)
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and escalate reported software problems.
• Develop and document processes for the internal use of the Implementation Services Department staff.
• Other service and support tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

• MLS or equivalent.
• Ability to do occasional travel (up to 25%).
• Thorough understanding of library practices and procedures.
• Strong understanding of automated library systems.
• Knowledge of HTML, XHTML, XML, CSS, & JavaScript.
• Desired experience with Apache, Tomcat, MySQL
• Familiarity with Web Services models & AJAX technologies.
• Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure.
• Excellent communications and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
