Library Director
Annual Salary range: $111,300 - $134,180
This position will remain open until a sufficient pool of qualified candidates has been identified. The initial review of candidate qualifications will take place on October 26, 2007.

The Library Director position is an at-will, top-level management position that is appointed by the Board of Supervisors. Under administrative direction of the County Administrator and as advised by the Library Commission, the Library Director manages personnel, develops programs, and formulates operational procedures leading to the implementation of an efficient department. The Library Director is expected to provide a leadership role within the library; to provide services to meet community needs; and to coordinate and provide a cohesive and effective service delivery system.

Experience and Education
To qualify for this classification, an individual must possess any combination of experience and education that would likely produce the required knowledge and abilities. A desirable combination is:

Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible professional library experience, including two years in a supervisory or administrative capacity.

Education:
A Master’s Degree in library science from an American Library Association accredited college or university.
