| Description: | Library Assistant (Information Specialist I)
A large non-profit public health organization conducting a broad range of public health research, training, and technical assistance programs in California, throughout the nation, and around the world is seeking a part time Library Assistant for the Alcohol Research Group (ARG). ARG is one of fifteen national alcohol research centers in the U.S and the library is one of the oldest and largest alcohol and other drug libraries in the world.
Duties & Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Librarian, the Library Assistant will be responsible for various tasks related to the overall functioning of the Library. This will include maintenance of library databases, descriptive and some subject cataloguing, ordering, data entry, inter-library loan, receiving serials, sorting mail, assisting with reference. This position is for 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday and is based in Emeryville, California.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, 2-3 years’ library experience preferred, word-processing and database software skills, must have the ability to compose correspondence, organize and prioritize work, follow instructions and initiative to follow assigned tasks, communicate effectively with library users and interact smoothly in an office environment. Technical experience with InMagic database software is highly desirable but not required.
