Job Description

Reports to the Access Services/Facilities Department Head.  

Essential Job Responsibilities: 

Performs general Circulation/Reserves routine tasks, i.e., charging and discharging material, processing access/borrowing applications, collecting and recording fines, answering the telephone, etc.
- Provides a high level of service to members of the University of San Francisco community and campus guests. This includes distributing general information regarding the Gleeson Library/Geschke Center, the campus and university events.
- During certain hours is responsible for the Circulation Department operations in the absence of full-time personnel. In addition to the above duties includes:
- Supervision of all Circulation/Reserves student assistants working during these hours, assigning them work relevant to maintaining a good stack condition, efficient circulation procedures and security measures.
- Opening and closing the library at appointed hours.
- Enforces library regulations.
- Performs other duties appropriate to the classification including mending/bindery preparation, processing materials for Reserves, processing holds, recalls and other departmental notices, etc.
- Interlibrary Lending and Link+ support as needed.  

Other Responsibilities

- Performs other duties as assigned.  

Requirements

Minimum two years college. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and experience using the Internet. Excellent interpersonal skills including ability to work with a diverse group of people. Ability to carry out physical maneuvers which may involve lifting and carrying books, pushing book trucks, etc. Good organizational skills including ability to maintain records with great attention to detail. Experience working in an academic library with automated systems, Innovative Interfaces in particular. Likes fast-pace, high volume and production work environment.  

Special Instructions to Applicants Working Hours: 30 hours/week
Required Hours: Nights & Weekends - Includes shifts till 12 midnight

Library and Shift hours are subject to change.
