Library Associates Companies (LAC)
seeks candidates for a Legal Research Librarian in sunny San Diego, California. Our ideal candidate is a strong researcher with an expertise in legal and patent files. We are looking for someone who is self-directed, outgoing and has a proactive approach to communication and problem solving.
Responsibilities
- Provide legal research primarily focusing on Intellectual Property;
- Provide business, engineering, and general research support;
Qualifications
- MLS from an ALA accredited library program OR Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five (5) years corporate legal library experience with progressively responsible positions;
- Sound knowledge of print and online legal research methods, and of United States legal and law-related information sources;
- Expertise in Dialog and LexisNexis, particularly in relation to patent and legal files;
- Proficiency with Courtlink is also necessary;
- Experience with Micropatent;
- Demonstrated prior art search expertise;
- Expertise in searching technical databases such as IEEE Xplore, Ei Compendex, Inspec, ACM Digital Library, Scopus and others;
- Experience obtaining documents from various state and federal courts, governmental agencies, and regulatory groups, including the SEC and Secretary's of State, using a variety of resources;
- Must be able to work effectively on a team and communicate well with both colleagues and internal customers at all levels of the organization.
