Full-time Periodicals/Reference Librarian
30-37.5 hours/week (will include some evening and weekend hours)

Under the general supervision of the Library Director and the Head of Public Services, the Periodicals/Reference Librarian:

  • Supervises the management of the library’s collection of over 550 print periodicals and newspaper subscriptions and periodical database subscriptions;
  • Provides professional library services to members, including reference and readers’ advisory services, using the library’s print and electronic resources;
  • Participates in collection development.

Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Library/Information Science from an institution accredited by the American Library Association and two years experience in public services in an academic or public library setting.

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working with large periodical collections;
  • Ability to provide excellent reference service using print and electronic resources;
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently;
  • Experience in collection development in the humanities;
  • Familiarity with the Millenium integrated, online system or the equivalent;
  • Knowledge of current library trends in reference, library instruction, and database use and licensing issues.

Salary range: $42,000 -45,000/year
